What is a checking account?
A checking account is a spending account that you can use for everyday transactions. This includes making digital payments, depositing checks, withdrawing cash using your debit card, and setting up direct deposits from your employer’s payroll, social security and more.
How do I open a checking account?
To open a checking account you'll need to complete an application online or in-person. You’ll need your member number (if you’re already a member) and personal information, including a government-issued photo ID. If opening your account online, have your mobile device handy and be prepared to access your email account.
Are there any fees associated with a checking account?
Sound Credit Union offers several checking account options, some with no monthly service fees. Depending on the account you choose, there may be requirements to waive certain fees, such as maintaining a minimum balance or setting up direct deposit. 1 Overdraft Refund: On request, every checking account can reverse one overdraft fee per calendar year.


2Early Pay: You must have ACH Direct Deposit into a Sound Credit Union account to participate in Early Pay. Depending on your employer’s payroll procedures, it may not be possible to receive your payroll deposit early. Sound does not assume any liability for not depositing these funds to your account early.
